Religious indoctrination = Child abuse

This is NOT religious indoctrination necessarily though, this is HATE. Yeah, Fred Phelps spouts on about religion but that’s a guise for his prejudice. I’m so sick of religion getting all the flack. Indoctrination to anything is usually wrong, and I disagree with the word being used mostly with a religious prefix.

Not getting your point. Religion getting all the flack for what? This girl being brainwashed into holding up a sign warning the gays that they’re going to be tortured by the devil for all eternity because that’s not how god made them? I’d say religion should absolutely get all the flack for that.

I don’t see why it has to be a case of either ‘religious indoctrination’ or ‘hate’. Whether religion is a smokescreen for Fred Phelps’ natural prejudice or not, he’s besides the issue, that kid has been indoctrinated is what the point is. That wasn’t done through hate, that was done through religion.

And of course indoctrination is wrong. The prefix is only present here because it was taken from an atheist blog in referral to a case where religion’s been used as both justification and basis to bring a clueless child up to be a homophobic prick. Religious indoctrination isn’t worse than any other, the point is context.
