cviper replied to your post: That’s one of the reasons I so loathe religion. No…
what about people who find religion later in life? and if it makes them happy, how exactly is it so wrong? as far as i can tell every religious person i’ve met lives their life by paschals wager

Ok, Paschal’s Wager is a crock of shit, for one. Paschal talked merely of Christianity and Jesus Christ, but there are countless religions extinct, living, and not yet invented that Paschal’s Wager would have to take into account. Since each religion teaches that following other religions will lead to your doom, you can only pick one, so are your odds really any better? Of course not. You could also make the same suggestion for any other claim that has absolutely no supporting evidence, but that doesn’t make it any more correct.

Furthermore, very rarely does a full blown atheist with science “find religion” later in life. Generally, the non-religious who become religious are those that spend most of their lives not thinking about it until they find themselves in a state of purposelessness. Those people then go looking for God, and whichever religion they prefer with its own punishment for not obeying its tenets. It’s still not much of a “choice” to be subservient.
