I don’t think a lot of people realize this, but the Israelites were never enslaved by the Egyptians— the only thing that says they were are religious texts, though there are some Greek references to the story, but they’re in many ways very different and seem to be more anti-Semitic than anything and are even bigger fabrications (long story short, a renegade Egyptian priest leads an army of lepers out of Egypt and then comes back and drives the Egyptians out, and then the priest changes his name to Moses). The Egyptians have no record of it, and they were great record keepers, even for their most embarrassing moments. There isn’t a shred of evidence for it, but it’s one of the founding moments of Abrahamic religions.
